C Venues Presents
Electric Cabaret

The poly-comic spree

Flick the switch on a unique 'cream of comedy' bill every night

Electric Cabaret is a brand-spanking new comedy cabaret show which is set to become one of the must have late-night tickets on the fringe. Our resident host Matt Holt ('Very funny, top laugh' Loaded) leads you through a unique laugh-fest every night featuring the very best in stand up, character and sketch comedy available on the fringe. With his extensive knowledge of the circuit, this will prove to be far more than just another "4 stand ups" show but will rather provide a massively exciting variety of acts hand-picked by Matt himself - very much his comedy 'best of'. Set against the backdrop of this fabulous old art deco cinema - Electric Cabaret is looking to establish itself as the comedy flagship for this fantastic new venue for many years to come. With a well-stocked bar open throughout the show, and with the promise of a few major surprises along the way, it's very much a case of grab a drink and join the party.

Matt Holt made his first big splash at the Edinburgh Fringe in the highly acclaimed hit show UberArmy ('endlessly inventive and brilliantly funny' * * * * Scotsman) at C in 2001. Since then he has toured extensively with Fuse Productions in the sublime physical comedy Somehow I Feel Dirty (* * * * * Metro), and for 18 months was resident MC and programmer at On the Funny Side in Blackfriars (where he attracted such luminaries as Sean Lock, Danny Bhoy, Chris Addison, Andrew Maxwell & Reg D Hunter). Other MC credits include the last season of Comedy a JoJo's, it's little sister OhOh at C Venues, Edinburgh 2004, and the infamous Hoxton Bark. Last year he co-wrote and starred in Nudge at the Pod Deco with long-term double act partner James Lamont & the legendary Charlie Chuck. A mercurial and fearless stand up with the uncanny ability to place audience and atmosphere above the need to churn through old material. In turn angry and genial, this charismatic fella once helped men everywhere by shamelessly admitting that ET can still make him cry (100 Greatest Tearjerkers, Channel 4)
